Choosing Organic Milk
Organic Milk is the Tastier Option
There are so many benefits to drinking organic milk.
These include taste and body, as well as the fact that it lasts longer and has come from cows
that receive no antibiotics or growth hormones.
Not many people know that milk is simply not milk.
Organic dairy products offer a better product in a market where what you put into your body is
very important.
Extra hormones and antibiotics in products we consume daily can greatly affect our heath over
the long term. Choosing to go organic allows you to take control over what goes into your body and the bodies of
your family members.
How is This Milk Different?
Organic milk is very different from regular milk. The farming
requirements for the milk cows are much stricter than regular dairy cows. The cows on regular farms can be given
antibiotics for mastitis and still milked. This means that what they are taking can be in the milk they put on the
store shelves. When a cow gets mastitis on an organic farm, she will be treated and pulled from production until
she is well and no longer leaking antibiotics in her milk supply.
The use of growth hormones is also a major difference between organic dairy cows and regular
ones. Farmers use growth hormones to help the cows produce more milk. More milk means more money. Unfortunately,
these hormones are in low doses in the milk we drink. Organic milk cannot have any growth
hormones in it and the cows cannot use these hormones to boost supply.
The life of milk produced organically also lasts longer. While regular milk lasts a week or so,
the organic variety lasts almost a month. This is due to how it is processed. The milk has to travel longer from
the organic farms, so UHT or ultra high temperatures are used to kill the bacteria and make preservation
longer.
The Choice to Buy
The choice to buy organic milk is an easy one. The taste speaks for itself.
Milk that is organic has a creamier taste, even when it is low fat. The body is different as well. With the boom in
whole and natural food stores, as well as natural sections in local super market chains, the cost of milk that is
organic is not that much high than that of regular milk. The few cents more is well worth it for the taste and
health benefits,
It is the health benefits of milk made organically that makes the choice to switch the easiest.
Even if you had to pay a dollar more, it would be worth it to not become antibiotic immune or have your endocrine
system confused by extra amounts of hormones floating around in your milk. Removing these potentially harmful
ingredients that should not be in milk in the first place, makes the milk taste great, safe for daily consumption,
and over all better of a product. Milk can now be the healthy product it claims to be again.
