Organic Poultry

Organic Poultry Is The Best Of The Flock
Organic poultry is good news for everyone.

It is not uncommon for people to be confused when people talk about organic poultry this is
because you are usually of the opinion that for something to be organic it needs to be fruit or produce.
This is not the case actually, as many farmers today are dealing with the pressures of the
government and the customers to introduce healthier and better birds for human consumption.
The best possible way for this to happen, is for the farmers to eliminate much of the practices
that plague a flock. Overcrowding is usually one of the first things that are eliminated from a chicken farm, when
the farmer has taken up the task to go organic.
With the overcrowding in a chicken house, you can be sure that you are going to have a great
deal of stress and this stress creates illness. If you take this overcrowding and couple it with overfeeding and
hormone therapy, you can easily see that not only does the chicken live poorly, it also ends up costing the
customer quality. The idea that a bird should be stuffed with food in 6 weeks, what they would normally eat in 4
months is not only unhealthy it is cruel.
Running The Roost
Organic poultry is not really about the higher cost of the bird
opposed to the cost of standard farmed chickens. What it is really about is ensuring that the chicken is well kept
for so in essence they will taste better. When the bird has free roam for example, they are far less likely to
become stressed out. When they are not stressed, they are less susceptible to transmitted or airborne illness.
Taking this out of the equation also removed the chances of multiple birds becoming ill and destroying an entire
batch of sellable chickens.
This will also help avoid serious health risks to the general public with problems such as the
bird flu. It is very easy to see that a happy free roaming chicken is a healthy tasty chicken. Many of the farms
that are in the United States Of America have chosen the organic route for their chickens. This allows them to
continue to sell in their country and not be beat out by another country for sales.
The more that the chickens are free to simply graze and eat grains and cereals (free range), the
more likely that you are going to get a great tasting bird. Occasionally the farmer will give the chickens a
vitamin supplement to go with their feed, yet this is the only supplement that is allowed to be offered to the
birds for them to be approved organic poultry.
Comparable Price And Better Quality
If you are looking for a great meal, then look no further than organic poultry. These birds are
treated like royalty when they are being raised and this is very reflective in how they taste. The cost of the
organic bird versus a standard bird at the grocery store, funny enough is really only a few cents per pound more.
For those that do not like to skimp on quality for their family, this cost is quite acceptable. You will not find
the organic variety placed alongside the non organic birds.
This is because they are actually priced differently that the standard birds and they do not
want any confusion at the check out on prices. You can buy these chickens or their parts such as legs, breasts, and
wings at any specialty health food shop as well as many grocers today. This is a great time for you to introduce
organic poultry to your family you just may find that they will never go back.
