Choosing to Use the Best Organic Skin Products
More and more people are now turning to organic skin products.
The idea of not putting anything into or onto one’s body that is not natural and safe has become
a huge concern.
With rising numbers in cancer and other harmful diseases, people are choosing to use only
products that made with all natural ingredients.
Skin products made with only organic ingredients may cost a bit more, but they are high quality,
last longer, and better for you. You can feel safe that the product you are buying only has ingredients that will
not harm you and that the product will do what it claims.
The Difference in Organic Products
There are standards that determine whether your skin products are actually organic or not. To be
considered organic skin products, they must not be made without any synthetic pesticides, herbicides, insecticides,
hormones, fungicides, or fertilizers. It cannot have any toxic substances, artificial colors, or genetically
modified organisms in it either.
To be 100% organic the skin care products must be made with all organic materials only and will
bear the organic seal. To be organic the products must use at least 95% organic materials and ingredients. These
products will also be able to bear the seal of certified organic. Skin products made with at least 70% organic
materials are not considered certified organic, but rather made with organic materials. These products could
contain some not so healthy ingredients and one would want to read the labels carefully. It is always best to stick
with certified organic skin products to avoid undesired chemicals.
Benefits of Natural Skin Products
Skin products made with synthetic ingredients tend to not do what they say in the long run and
actually can cause irritations. The ingredients can cause skin to dry out and become irritated and even split.
Organic skin products do not contain the irritating ingredients and
only use those materials that come from natural sources.
Emollients are used in organic skin products to prevent dryness and
protect skin. Plant oils are the most commonly used. Humectants in natural products are used to keep skin moist.
Lecithin, panthenol, and glycerin are the ones used. Natural emulsifiers are used to hold ingredients together that
would not normally do it on their own. These include Quince seed, plant waxes, and xanthan gum. Organic surfactants
include castile soap, yucca extract, Soapwort, Quillaja bark extract and dissolve oils and holds dirt in suspension
to be able to be washed away.
To preserve these skin products natural ingredients are used. Tea tree oil is one of the most
common preservatives, but thyme oil, grapefruit seed extract, vitamin E (D-Alpha Tocopherol Acetate) are also used.
You can also extend the life of your skin products by refrigerating then as well.
Organic skin products for your skin will help to keep your skin healthy and
supple. You can rest assured that no chemicals have been added that could cause your skin harm immediately or over
time.
